Some Expensive Titles Five Bucks Off

Posted July 4, 2008 at 7:08 pm by Jim in Deals, Games

Wow, the title of this article sucks, doesn’t it.

However, it looks like there are a bunch of titles at Amazon that are on sale right now, with a minimum of $5 off, some more, some less.

Titles I’ve found so far, as of July 4:

Resident Evil:  The Umbrella Chronicles, $42.99, normally $49.99
Lego Indiana Jones, $42.99, normally $49.99
Super Mario Galaxy, $44.99, normally $49.99
Super Smash bros. Brawl, $42.99, normally $49.99
Wii Sports with Wiimote, $42.99, normally $44.99
Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party Bundle, $62.99, normally $69.99
Mario Party 8, $44.99, normally $49.99
Endless Ocean, $26.99, normally $29.99
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, $42.99, normally $49.99
Pinball Hall of Fame, $19.99, normally $29.99

There are a bunch more, just go search the Wii Store.  I didn’t intentionally make that rhyme.  The worst price decrease I found, to make sure a title gets a mention, was Open Season - $19.79 down from a whopping $19.99.

Happy Fourth of July, Everyone!

JoWood Wii Yoga Confirmed

Posted July 4, 2008 at 5:16 pm by Jim in Games

An article at Computer and Video Games reported that Jo Wood will have her name on a new Wii yoga title soon.  No news on an official title yet, but because of Nintendo’s T+G guidelines, the name will most likely change.

Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon

Posted July 2, 2008 at 8:07 am by Jim in Games

Wow.

IGN just posted some screenshots for an upcoming game, Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon from Namco Bandai. This RPG looks sweet. But that is WeKnowWii.com’s opinion of course.

IGN said, regarding the game:

An RPG from Japanese combo-publisher Namco Bandai. Fragile takes place in the near future, in a world that has lost its population. You play as Seto, a young boy who wanders around, searching through the abandoned cities and facilities of this world, trying to learn the truth behind the disappearance of all the people, and to find someone to keep him company.

The Wiimote is used as an aid in exploration. Seto uses a flashlight to light up his surroundings. You get to use the Wiimote to directly point the flashlight in whatever direction you like. Seto also has a metal detector. Once again, the Wiimote is used to directly operate this device. In addition to exploration, Seto has to deal with ghosts who appear in the ruins. We’re not sure how he fights these foes, but it seems that a stick of some form is involved.

We are seriously looking forward to the release of this game, Namco Bandai. Japan will see the first of this some time in 2008.

WiiDVD is on Hold.

Posted July 1, 2008 at 5:56 pm by Jim in Wii News

Looks like WiiDVD is on hiatus for a bit as Nintendo gets their supply problems sorted out.  Nintendo president Satoru Iwata says (in reference to Wii), “With supply constraints [of the Wii] continuing worldwide, the priority is on the current model.”  Looks like WiiDVD desirers are looking at some time in 2009 to get DVD playing capabilities.

We’re glad to see that Nintendo has its priorities in order - and it’s not unexpected with a system like the Wii selling like it is.

Thanks to Nintendic for the info.

(Obviously we know it’s a graphic, but come on. Did no one catch this?)

It’s supposed to be a pretty awesome game though, regardless of what the EA Art Department is outputting! Check out the FIFA ‘08 Official Site for some sweet images and info. If you don’t have this game yet, Amazon has it in stock.

Do you for some reason NOT have Mario Kart Wii?

These are just a few of the 40+ videos online about the shortcuts in Mario Kart.  There are some rpetty devious ones out there, as well - we’re still big fans of actually playing the games we buy!

Mario Super Sluggers

Posted July 1, 2008 at 8:01 am by Jim in Games

Coming out on August 25, 2008 (and available NOW for pre-order) is Mario Super Sluggers - if you’ve played Wii Sports, then you’re all ready to go with this upcoming title.  Players will use the same motions from Wii Sports Baseball to throw and bat, and the game promises to be yet another bridge between old hat gamers and those new to Wii gaming.

We’re making no judgements here at WeKnowWii.com, but when will someone come out with a game where it actually takes some skill to catch the ball?  We will undoubtedly play and probably enjoy this title, of course.

Direct from the Nintendo Press Room:

Mario™ Super Sluggers stars the ever-lovable Mario and his crew of friends. It builds on the social-gaming fun and movements people learned in Wii Sports™ and turns them into a full-fledged baseball game that can be played by every member of the household. Players make a throwing motion with the Wii Remote controller to pitch the baseball and make a swinging motion to swing at the pitch. The game boasts more than 30 playable Nintendo characters and all the madness of a Mario sports game. Just like Mario Kart® Wii, it bridges the gap between experienced players and those new to the Wii console, with fun challenges and beautiful graphics.

New Titles Today: “Magnetica: Twist for WiiWare, and “Fatal Fury 2″ for the Virtual Console

Posted June 30, 2008 at 8:47 pm by Jim in Games, Virtual Console, Wii News, wiiware

WeKnowWii has gained a Nintendo Press Pass!  We’ll always bring you as much up-to-date information as we can, as soon as it’s available!

New today, on WiiWare, from the Nintendo Press Vault:

Magnetica™ Twist (Nintendo, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone-Comic Mischief, 1,000 Wii Points): The classic puzzle game Magnetica is now available on WiiWare , putting its own unique “twist” on the puzzle-game experience. You’re surrounded by marbles, marching slowly but surely down a track. Use a launcher (piloted by a Mii™ of your choice) to shoot marbles with matching colors and wipe them out before they reach the end of the track. Control couldn’t be simpler, as all you need to do is twist the Wii Remote™ controller to aim and press the A button to shoot. And the game play remains as addictive and deep as you’ve come to expect in Nintendo’s puzzle games, with five varied play modes, advanced mechanics such as the ability to lob marbles, and a never-ending supply of combos. This definitely isn’t your typical game of marbles.

Also new today, for the Virtual Console:

FATAL FURY 2 (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen-Animated Blood, Violence, 900 Wii Points): Released in 1992 by SNK, FATAL FURY 2 is the second installment in the renowned fighting-game series. In addition to Terry, Andy and Joe, who appeared in the original game, another five distinctive fighters gather from around the world to compete for the championship title. Also newly added are stage-specific hazards and the ability to perform desperation attacks when a character’s strength is low. These particularly deadly techniques create the chance for a come-from-behind victory achieved with a single strike. Moreover, the innovative two-line battle, which proved popular in the previous version, also has been radically enhanced. Pressing the weak-attack and strong-attack buttons simultaneously enables players to move their fighters to another line themselves, or to launch an attack that pushes opponents back to another line. This game mechanic, unique to this title in the series, allows the player to take advantage of the depth of the screen and create even more exciting bouts. Can you prove yourself the king of fighters again?

Check them out!  Need Wii Points?  Go get some!

Solid Black Silicone Case for Wiimote and Nunchuk

Posted June 30, 2008 at 2:14 pm by Jim in Accessories

I just found this pair of covers for your Wiimote and Nunchuk - it’s a black silicone cover that is a little more sleek than the original covers that come with the wiimote.  I kind of like the padding that the original silicone cover has around the front - it’s a pretty thick padding.  These covers don’t seem to have that, but they are only a buck-39.

That’s right - $1.39.  A dollar and thirty-nine cents.
