New Titles Today: “Magnetica: Twist for WiiWare, and “Fatal Fury 2″ for the Virtual Console

Monday, June 30th, 2008

WeKnowWii has gained a Nintendo Press Pass!  We’ll always bring you as much up-to-date information as we can, as soon as it’s available!

New today, on WiiWare, from the Nintendo Press Vault:

Magnetica™ Twist (Nintendo, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone-Comic Mischief, 1,000 Wii Points): The classic puzzle game Magnetica is now available on WiiWare , putting its own unique “twist” on the puzzle-game experience. You’re surrounded by marbles, marching slowly but surely down a track. Use a launcher (piloted by a Mii™ of your choice) to shoot marbles with matching colors and wipe them out before they reach the end of the track. Control couldn’t be simpler, as all you need to do is twist the Wii Remote™ controller to aim and press the A button to shoot. And the game play remains as addictive and deep as you’ve come to expect in Nintendo’s puzzle games, with five varied play modes, advanced mechanics such as the ability to lob marbles, and a never-ending supply of combos. This definitely isn’t your typical game of marbles.

Also new today, for the Virtual Console:

FATAL FURY 2 (NEOGEO, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen-Animated Blood, Violence, 900 Wii Points): Released in 1992 by SNK, FATAL FURY 2 is the second installment in the renowned fighting-game series. In addition to Terry, Andy and Joe, who appeared in the original game, another five distinctive fighters gather from around the world to compete for the championship title. Also newly added are stage-specific hazards and the ability to perform desperation attacks when a character’s strength is low. These particularly deadly techniques create the chance for a come-from-behind victory achieved with a single strike. Moreover, the innovative two-line battle, which proved popular in the previous version, also has been radically enhanced. Pressing the weak-attack and strong-attack buttons simultaneously enables players to move their fighters to another line themselves, or to launch an attack that pushes opponents back to another line. This game mechanic, unique to this title in the series, allows the player to take advantage of the depth of the screen and create even more exciting bouts. Can you prove yourself the king of fighters again?

Solid Black Silicone Case for Wiimote and Nunchuk

Monday, June 30th, 2008

I just found this pair of covers for your Wiimote and Nunchuk - it’s a black silicone cover that is a little more sleek than the original covers that come with the wiimote.  I kind of like the padding that the original silicone cover has around the front - it’s a pretty thick padding.  These covers don’t seem to have that, but they are only a buck-39.

That’s right - $1.39.  A dollar and thirty-nine cents.

“Boogie Superstar” Announced for Wii

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

The good folk over at Nintendic posted an article about Electronic Arts’ title geared towards girls, giving them the experience of being a famous singer and dancer. There is no mention in this release of info about the Balance Board being used. We’ll see how that goes.

From Nintendic’s article:

Boogie SuperStar features more than 40 songs made famous by popular artists such as Rihanna, Fergie, Katy Perry, Maroon 5, Leona Lewis, Alicia Keys, Good Charlotte, Britney Spears, Kanye West, and more. Another 30 songs will be available on International versions of the game, allowing players to perform songs from local artists including Melissa M (France), Monrose (Germany), Finley (Italy) and Fito y Fitipaldis (Spain). EA also explains that the title will have a big, featured artist too, although the developer is keeping their identity secret for a while.

Kotaku also had a pretty funny article about this game…
I guess I’m a fan of Mike Fahey’s writing style.

North America and Europe will see this some time in October.

Holy OCD, Batman! There are FIVE COLORS of Wii Glo Sword.

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

In case you can’t decide on which color of 30 dollar Wii Glo Sword accessory to choose, there are FIVE COLORS. Sheesh.

Well, hey - to each his or her own, in five colors. But they’re still 30 bucks a pop.

NYKO’s Classic Controller Grip for Wii

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

I’m a pretty big fan of Nyko’s accessory line for Wii. I just ran across another one from Nyko that I have to pick up; if you’re a fan of using the Classic Controller

for Wii - for all of those N64 and GameCube games you can’t let go of, like Star Tropics for me - then check out the Classic Controller Grip for the controller and wiimote.

The Classic Controller Grip by Nyko wraps around the classic controller (as you have probably noticed, it’s not so easy to hold on to), and attaches to the Wiimote in order to facilitate faster playing.  But really - as much as I love efficiency, scheduling, and all of that - if the reason for buying the Classic Controller Grip is to save time on playing games, then it might be time to clear up some time on your schedule.

Check it out!  It’s ten bucks.  Barely event he cost of eating at McD’s.

Hop on it!  Go get Super Smash Bros. Brawl and get your free money!

Go Buy Some Games - Under $20

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Amazon just marked down a handful of games to around $16. With gas prices at $4 a gallon, you can stay home and play, and have Amazon pay for gas.

Emergency Mayhem - $15.88

Target: Terror - $15.88

Battle of the Bands - $19.85

Sonic Riders Zero Gravity - $19.85

Brunswick Pro Bowling - $19.99 (this is down ten bucks from regular price)

Nintendo Games on Amazon’s Friday Gold Box Deals

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Apparently for the FIRST TIME EVER, Amazon is going to have a bunch of game deals in their Friday Gold Box Deals!  If you haven’t done this or tried it, Gold Box deals are pretty cool - just random deals based on a category or topic, and they’re usually pretty good.  We missed a deal a few months ago on an $800 elliptical trainer for $200 bucks off of the retail price.  I’m sure you can imagine how hard we kicked ourselves.

Here’s how it will work:

  • At 12:01 AM PST the first deal will be the Gold Box Deal of the Day. Its special discounted price will be available all day only on Friday, June 27 (or until Amazon run out.)
  • Starting at 6:00 AM PST, the second deal will be featured as a Lightning Deal. This special price will be available for the following two hours.
  • Each of the seven remaining deals will also be Lightning Deals. Starting every two hours that follow at 8:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 2:00 PM, 4:00 PM, and 6:00 PM PST, and 8:00 PM each deal will be available for two hours after it begins.
  • Discounts on each deal will be available only while supplies last.

They mean it too - if it’s gone, it’s gone, and you’ve missed out.

Remember - this starts at MIDNIGHT on Friday, so that means in about eleven hours.  We’re looking forward to seeing what kind of games we’re gonna be able to snag!

Check it out for yourselves!  Amazon Gold Box Deals for Nintendo Games.

The Rock Band Game and Accessories Super-Post

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

I went looking for some Rock Band accessories links last night, and I figured that it was time for someone to do an all-inclusive post of the gear available for Rock Band for Wii.

It’s time for that post.

There is, of course, the Rock Band for Wii Special Edition - including the guitar controller, drum controller, microphone, USB Hub and game software.  This seems to be a pretty big seller right now.  You can also purchase just the game disc as well.

The Rock Band Track Pack, Vol. 1 is available for pre-order, to be released on July 15.  This includes:

  • 30 Seconds to Mars - The Kill
  • All-American Rejects - Move Along
  • Blink-182 - All the Small Things
  • Boston - More Than a Feeling
  • David Bowie - Moonage Daydream
  • Faith No More - We Care a Lot
  • Grateful Dead - Truckin’
  • Hives - Die, All Right!
  • Kiss - Calling Dr. Love
  • Lynyrd Skynyrd - Gimme Three Steps
  • Nine Inch Nails - March of the Pigs
  • Oasis - Live Forever
  • Paramore - Crushcrushcrush
  • The Police - Synchronicity II
  • Queens of the Stone Age - Little Sister
  • The Ramones - Teenage Lobotomy
  • Smashing Pumpkins - Siva
  • Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song
  • Weezer - Buddy Holly
  • Wolfmother - Joker & The Thief

You’re also going to need to know about the game accessories and must-haves:

The Rock Band for Wii Drumkit

The Rock Band for Wii Guitar Controller - remember, the Rock Band and Guitar Hero controllers are NOT - I repeat, NOT COMPATIBLE.

The Rock Band for Wii Microphone - These are from Logitech, and IMHO they have THE BEST accessories out there.  Logitech’s Playstation 2 wireless controllers are the finest I have had the pleasure of using…  and funny enough, in writing this article, I just discovered that they’re ten dollars off right noe.  SO if you also appreciate PS2, go get these.  I highly recommend it.  I have had mine for two years, and they’re still solid.  I am assuming that their Wii Microphone will hold up to the same scrutiny.

Rock Band for Wii - Light-Up Drumsticks!  In Blue or Red.

3-in-1 Rock Band/Guitar Hero Kit - this accessory has a gig bag for your guitars (with lots of pockets), a guitar controller strap, and a guitar stand.  It’s good for your Wii Rock Band OR your Wii Guitar Hero pleasure.

The Rock Stand - a 2-guitar controller stand for Rock Band for Wii or Guitar Hero for Wii.  You can also use this for controllers for PS2, PS3, and XBox, but WeKnowWii here, so you can imagine which we’re gonna use it for…

For you roadies out there:  The Rock Icon guitar case.  This case is an aluminum road case for your Rock Band or Guitar Hero guitar controllers, your came console, games, cables, and the kitchen sink.  For the true die-hard traveling player.  It’s also on sale right now.

Last but definitely not least…  Rock Band for Wii Drum Pad Covers.  These pads reduce noise by up to 50%, and are easy to remove and apply.  Get them fast though, they’re ridiculously popular, and have been in and out of stock for a while.

WeKnowWii.com hopes that this helps you.  We’ll be updating as soon as we find new stuff!

Call of Duty: World At War PRESS RELEASE!

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jun 23, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) — Leave your packs and bring extra ammo, Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATVI) (http://www.activision.com/) and Treyarch, announced today that they will be taking Call of Duty players deep into the South Pacific and European theaters this fall for Call of Duty: World at War(tm), a gritty fight that will pit players against enemies that know no surrender and show no mercy. Utilizing the Call of Duty 4(r): Modern Warfare engine, Call of Duty: World at War throws out the rulebook of war to transform WWII combat through a new enemy, new tactics and an uncensored experience of the climatic battles that gripped a generation. As U.S. Marines and Russian soldiers, players will employ new features like cooperative gameplay, and weapons such as the flamethrower in the most chaotic and cinematically intense experience to date.

“With Call of Duty: World at War, we’re re-defining what it means to play a WWII game,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head for Treyarch. “We’re excited to give players a host of new enemies that employ entirely new tactics, as well as new, groundbreaking tools - like co-op and the flamethrower - to succeed in the epic fight.”

Call of Duty: World at War introduces co-operative play, bringing fresh meaning to the “No One Fights Alone” mantra with up to four-players online for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, or two-player local split-screen on consoles. Nintendo Wii will also support a unique co-op mode for two players. For the first time ever players will experience harrowing single-player missions together for greater camaraderie and tactical execution. The co-op campaign allows players to rank up and unlock perks in competitive multiplayer by completing challenges and earning experience points, adding continuous re-playability and team-based gameplay. Whether playing competitively or cooperatively - if players are online with Call of Duty: World at War - they will always gain experience points. Based on a player’s experience rank and rank of the player’s friends, Call of Duty: World at War will scale dynamically to provide a deeper level of challenge.

Call of Duty: World at War is in development for the Xbox 360(r) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PLAYSTATION(r)3 computer entertainment system, Nintendo(r) Wii(tm) and Games for Windows(r). The title is scheduled for release this fall and has not yet been rated by the ESRB.

Amazon has this great policy; if you purchase something from them and the price changes in 30 days, you can get a refund on the difference between what you paid and the price drop.

So, for example - if I buy something that costs 30 bucks, and it drops to 29 bucks, I can get a 1 buck refund from Amazon. The great thing is that no matter how many times the price drops, I can go and get another refund, and then another, and then another - as long as the price drops below what you paid for it.

There is a miracle wonder awesome fantastic amazing website called PriceProtectr. The folks at PriceProtectr created a website that, once you enter in the information for the items you bought from Amazon (and The Apple Store, Best Buy, Circuit City, and 118 other online stores), PriceProtectr watches the price of that item for 30 days, and emails you whenever the price changes from what you paid. It also gives you a link to tell Amazon that you’d like your refund, please!  PriceProtectr has saved consumers like you and I over a million bucks, if that helps you click on over to their website.

The best thing about PriceProtectr is that it is so amazingly free, and they don’t bug you when you’re not using their site. How about that for The Power of the Consumer!
