We’re back, and now that half of the house is unpacked, I can get back to blogging.
GTA IV is not being completely ruled out, according to Reggie Fils-Aime and a conversation he had with MTV Multiplayer, Nintendic reports. As Always, we love hearing news like this from Nintendic! (For those of you who aren’t in the know, Reggie is the President and COO for Nintendo of America.)
MTV: “Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.” How’d that come about? When did that conversation begin?
Reggie Fils-Aime, President, Nintendo of America: You know, we have
had a long-term relationship with [”GTA” publisher] Take Two. We’ve had
many conversations with the folks at Rockstar. This is a project they
wanted to make. We’re thrilled to have it on the platform.
MTV: 2D? 3D? What’s it going to be like?
Fils-Aime: You know the folks at Rockstar. And so we think it’s best
for them to tell the story of what that software’s going to be. They
can certainly do a better job of bringing it to life and do a much
better job explaining the backstory than I can.
But what about that tantilising possibility of seeing GTA on the Wii?
Multiplayer: Can Nintendo system owners take this sign
of a DS “GTA” coming out as a sign that there is an increased chance or
any plans for there to be a “GTA” on the Wii?
Fils-Aime: You know, a “GTA” on the Wii is all based on what
Rockstsar and Take Two want to do. And again, from our standpoint, if
they build a bottoms-up game that takes advantage of what we do well,
I’d love to see it on the platform.
Multiplayer: But have you had any conversations with them about that?
Fils-Aime: I have not had any of those conversations.

Amazon has Order Up!for $39.99 on pre-order, from Supervillain Studios and Zoo Games. This game is of the same virtual grill sense as Cooking Mama, with a bit more involved story and skills. You get to hire sous chefs!
IGN has a great article on this game, check it out:
You begin the game as the chef and owner of the new local dive, the Gravy Chug. The game features a stylized cel-shaded look meant to emphasize the silly, exaggerated character designs and cartoonish graphics. Although a weathered waitress (who looks like she’s been smoking since she was nine years-old) takes orders from mongoloid-like customers (from rednecks to brain dead teenagers), the gameplay action transpires almost entirely in the kitchen quarters, where you will be required to speedily prepare and assemble meals. Customers come in, you send the waitress over to take their orders and then you’re off in a race to get their food out as speedily as possible without sacrificing quality.
Check out this Wario Land: Shake It! Game trailer from Game Trailers. Did you know this is called Wario Land: The Shake Dimension outside of North America?
Get ready for September 29th, 2008 - Wario Land: Shake It! will hit US shelves that day.
July 15, and consequently the E3 Summit, is drawing closer. I’m looking forward to giving myself carpal tunnel for your joy and leisure as that date draws nearer, and more and more news gets leaked out for the Wii world.
Mr. Potatohead hosts, and we can all look forward to Boggle, Connect Four, Yahtzee, Sorry!, and Battleship. I am unsure as to if that’s the inclusive list. More on this as it hits.
Punchjump is reporting that Rock band Wii was in the top five in Amazon charts this week. Not too surprising, seeing as that the cost is about thirty bucks cheaper than the MSRP. Gas is averaging over FOUR BUCKS a gallon right now - when people wanna rock, they want to do it at home, after it’s been brought to them.
There are a bunch more, just go search the Wii Store. I didn’t intentionally make that rhyme. The worst price decrease I found, to make sure a title gets a mention, was Open Season - $19.79 down from a whopping $19.99.
I was looking around for interesting accessories this morning on some kind of rant, and I came across the Wii Boxing Gloves accessory. This is an offering from CTA Digital.
Hmm. Anyone have these and want to write a review? Pick a pair up here. They’re about $20.
An article at Computer and Video Games reported that Jo Wood will have her name on a new Wii yoga title soon. No news on an official title yet, but because of Nintendo’s T+G guidelines, the name will most likely change.
There’s a lot of rumble right now about Wii hacks, the homebrew channel, and all of the hacking prowess that is being developed for the Wii-Hacking crowd. The good folks at WiiHD have produced a homebrew hacking help video for those of you inclined to hack your Wii.
and for those of you who have no idea what the Twilight Hack is, check out the following video (go here for a full list of typed instructions that go with this video):
Youtube user “jbreckman” hacked his Guitar Hero Wii guitar controller with several combinations of playable notes using half and full presses of the whammy bar, the power mode (raising the guitar), and a few others. Check out the video!
An RPG from Japanese combo-publisher Namco Bandai. Fragile takes place in the near future, in a world that has lost its population. You play as Seto, a young boy who wanders around, searching through the abandoned cities and facilities of this world, trying to learn the truth behind the disappearance of all the people, and to find someone to keep him company.
The Wiimote is used as an aid in exploration. Seto uses a flashlight to light up his surroundings. You get to use the Wiimote to directly point the flashlight in whatever direction you like. Seto also has a metal detector. Once again, the Wiimote is used to directly operate this device. In addition to exploration, Seto has to deal with ghosts who appear in the ruins. We’re not sure how he fights these foes, but it seems that a stick of some form is involved.
We are seriously looking forward to the release of this game, Namco Bandai. Japan will see the first of this some time in 2008.
Looks like WiiDVD is on hiatus for a bit as Nintendo gets their supply problems sorted out. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata says (in reference to Wii), “With supply constraints [of the Wii] continuing worldwide, the priority is on the current model.” Looks like WiiDVD desirers are looking at some time in 2009 to get DVD playing capabilities.
We’re glad to see that Nintendo has its priorities in order - and it’s not unexpected with a system like the Wii selling like it is.
(Obviously we know it’s a graphic, but come on. Did no one catch this?)
It’s supposed to be a pretty awesome game though, regardless of what the EA Art Department is outputting! Check out the FIFA ‘08 Official Site for some sweet images and info. If you don’t have this game yet, Amazon has it in stock.
I just finished the Lightning race on the 150CC class of Mario Kart Wii. Yes, I know, everyone else has already finished and is laughing because I’m so slow. However, I’m very busy, so my playing time gets drastically cut down. However, in light of this momentous occasion, I am posting some videos of the various shortcuts in the courses that you can use to rocket yourself to “A” scores and gold cups!
These are just a few of the 40+ videos online about the shortcuts in Mario Kart. There are some rpetty devious ones out there, as well - we’re still big fans of actually playing the games we buy!
