Mario Kart Hackers: Please Read
Posted January 9, 2009 at 12:25 pm by Jim in Wii NewsI discovered something today that really sucks. Some people are hacking Mario Kart online and are doing their best to ruin the fun for other people.
This morning I was playing a few rounds of Mario Kart online when I was put into a race with a few people who for some reason had the uncanny ability to have an endless supply of Bob-Ombs, and would target and chase other players around the course bombing the crap out of us. One race, for example, I got about halfway through the second lap (on Moo Moo Meadows, which is a pretty short course, if that tells you anything) before the race ended. These folks just followed a few of us around spitting out a constant supply of bombs. The next round, one of these fools had a constant supply of the blue flying turtle shells that pretty much bring the game to a standstill, and I got through half of the first round of Coconut Mall before the race ended.
As far as I know, there are no online cheats or hacks in Mario Kart, so this really sucks. It makes playing online pretty unfun, especially if you had a ton of VR racked up and just lost 500 of it due to these cheaters.
Nintendo, if you know about this, please make it stop. If you are reading and have ever run into this problem, leave a note in the comments so we can put a stop to this. If you’re one of these cheaters, what exactly is the fun in ruining the game for everyone?

My son just encountered this too. the “cheaters” also had an online VR of 9999 and three stars. Even with all of this my kid still took first place. The 9999 guy came in next to last and was supposed to lose 2810 VR points, but his score still showed 9999, so there is more to this than just the turtles and bombs…

I have around 7000 and was suddenly in a race with 3 hackers. They seem to have infinite everything: blue shells, big mushrooms, stars bombs….
These guys just ruin it for the rest of us and it makes me sick! I hope Nintendo can do something about it, but I doubt it. It really is disgusting.

I found this site by searching “Mario Cart cheaters” because I’ve encountered cheaters over a dozen times when playing ~VS~ and was disgusted enough to see if anyone else’s fun was being ruined by cheats.
This afternoon a player with over 9500 points managed to stay a full lap ahead of the rest of us, even after she was pelted with at least five blue shells.
After I logged off and found another game, one of the players began causing all the prize boxes to begin exploding as soon as the race started! There were bombs exploding everywhere, multiple blue shells blowing up random players…even those who weren’t in first place, and red and green shells flying around! The game ended after half a lap. Whoever was responsible disrupted two games, then logged off.
It is pitiful that people have so much time on their hands that they can come up with ways to hack into a perfectly harmless and fun activity, then turn it into a bully session. Think about it, folks, because that is what it is. BULLYING. Shameful.

Yeah, this has gotten ridiculous, hasn’t it.
I pretty much just stopped playing online for a little while – I got stuck on a streak of whenever I got in VS. online, I got stuck with a pack of cheaters. What a drag!

We have run into this too. We just turn the Wii off when we get caught with these jerks. I would like fry their machines. I have also had to turn the Wii off because people join our games that have highly inappropriate names. I don’t like having to explain what certain things mean to a 9 year old.

I custom made a handful of mk hacks myself with a throwaway ip. They are just as harmless as you playing the games. Most of us go by the tag (eKs) , although we can’t be everywhere at once,or in every game. Stop whining and thank you all for your VR..

Aghhh,
I was just playing a match and this player hacked to get infinate items.
So, when someone besides them got into first, they threw blue shells and bombs to get ahead.
Once they were ahead, they used stars and bullet bills to finish way before anyone else.
-.- I lost 100 points.
They really ruin the fun for the other players.
I wish the Wii had a speaking system. Then hackers could be totally trashed and be scared away by other people.
I’m serious.

Yes the people with the hacking programs such as Gecko are absolutely disgusting… You can search my name on youtube and you will find a few rants. I also am informed because I am tracking every move these scum bags make. First off they think it’s funny… They have no respect for anyone else whatsoever. Mostly people don’t even openly voice oposition because like bullies the hackers gather in groups to overcome anyone… I am too stubborn for that. Now I also am in contact with Nintendo and while they did try to ban them with the 4.0 system update, they hacked around it in 24 hours…. Currently, I have no idea what to do to help Nintendo…

This is the kind of discrmination us 4TL hackers get…
4TL means 4 teh lulz. we don’t play to cheat, we play to have fun. Usually, before i was a hacker, 4TL hackers were so fun to play with. We hack, then we come in last place. We usually give about 100-200 VR points per round. So stop whining a laugh for once!

I just encountered the same experience. Mega number of blue shells, unlimited bombs and rows and rows of bananas were pelting everyone except I guess the hacker.
It was extremely frustrating and I quit after 4 games of assault.
Hey “IntoTheDarkness” get some light shining in your head. Open a room where hackers can beat up other hackers and leave the rest of us alone to enjoy the game the way it was intended to be played.

I ran into the same problem this morning just playing some casual mario cart when all of a sudden some guy named Msx26@HOTM started pelting us with blue shells. We called tech support, but they wouldnt help us! like they didn’t even believe us! if yall run into the same problem, dont bother calling tech support there no help. just log off and log back on and you wont be paired most likely with th same guy

Tonight my husband was playing Mario Cart online and got stuck with a cheater. He had the most points out of the group (6900) and won the first two races. Then on the third he started getting attacked. Before the race began this “hate funky” guy already had boxes. At first it was the spinny shells, then he would have an unlimited supply of stars and was coming after him, one right after the next. This guy would stop and wait on him to come by and then go backwards trying to hit him over and over where he couldn’t even move. This is so unfair and really takes the fun out of the game. Nintendo should fix this problem. We sympathize with the others that have been through this.

The Gecko cheats will always be there…just turn around and play at their own game. Get a star or a bullet and wait on them and after they pass hit the button and blow their as-es up! It’s fun!!!
