Economic Crisis and Your Game Playing… Affected?

Friday, December 5th, 2008

WeKnowWii.com keeps looking at all of the new games that are out, and wishing we could buy every single one to play - obviously we aren’t made of money, or we’d be writing about how much we’re enjoying all of our new games.  There are lots of stats out there regarding the crisis - people are playing more, people are playing less, less games are selling, new titles are coming out, and more Wiis are available this year than in previous years.

We’re finding that sitting home and playing a few games of Mario Kart or Wii Sports has been just as much fun, if not more, than the thought of dropping fifty bucks on dinner and a movie.  We’re also carefully considering which titles to purchase around the Christmas season, and carefully, hawkfully watching for deals to post here and exploit for our own enjoyment.

What have you found to be the effects of the current economic crisis on your gaming?  Please post in the comments, we would really love to know how the situation is affecting everyone.

Raymen Raving Rabbits- Anyone Play This Yet?

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

I’ve seen a couple of very interesting commercials regarding this game.  Anyone play it yet?  Rayman Raving Rabbits looks like something I could be very addicted to!

Wii Music - Have You Played?

I was browsing around today, and I noticed that Wii Music was out and in full strength.  Have you played this?  What’s it like?  Is it fun?  Please post in the comments!

Graphics Grumblings

Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

I’ve noticed a trend lately in titles for the Wii - or rather, grumblings about how the titles for the Wii are lacking in their video graphics prowess.  I have to admit, seeing the PS3 and XBox’s graphics can sometimes be pretty intimidating in comparison to some fo the Wii titles that are out.  But Wii is not as graphics-heavy as some of the super-graphics consoles out there - I can’t say that the Wii graphics are constantly bad, but there are titles that don’t make as much of the graphics as they possibly could considering the processing power Wii has.

What do you think about Wii graphics in games you play?  Are you pleased?  Disappointed?  Sad?  Angry? Thrilled?  Do you have no opinion at all?  We’d really like to know - please post in the comments.

How Do You Feel About Wii Violence?

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Dan Rosenberg just posted an article about violence in Wii games, and how there isn’t enough of it to satisfy the “gamer bloodlust” that PS3 and XBox gamers get in their titles.

How do you feel about this?  With Nintendo’s advances in inter-personal gaming with titles like Mario Kart and the general idea of shareable Miis, are you missing the absolute gore that you might have had before the Wii?  There certainly are some gory games - No More Heroes, for example, and any of the FPS titles like the Medal of Honor series and the Call of Duty games.

Are you missing the gore?  Post in the comments.

(the title that I believe spawned Dan’s article is MadWorld - which isn’t being released until March 31, 2009 - but is available for pre-order.)

Wii Maneuvering VS Hand-Held Controller - your thoughts?

Friday, May 30th, 2008

I’ve been reading a lot of stories out there about people complaining about getting up off the couch to play Wii - some folks apparently like having a handheld controller like those for PS2, PS3, and XBox. I can see both sides of the story, being an avid PS2 fan (and let me tell you, I LOVE my Logitech Wireless PS2 controllers, sorry for the shameless plug) I am glad that my family has discovered the get-off-your-tukus stylings of Wii and games like SSX Blur for Wii. I love the SSX series with a handheld controller, and I was mindblown to go flying down the mountain standing up - the ONLY way to really enjoy SSX Blur! Try it!

What are your controller thoughts? Post in the comments, we’d love to hear from you.
