Firaxis is Pulling Their Promise of Civ Rev

Sunday, June 15th, 2008

Thanks to Nintendic, we now know that Firaxis is going back on their promise to release Civilization Revolution for Wii.  According to Game Daily, who had an interview with “The Father of PC Gaming,” Sid Meier, Firaxis still gives the Wii some love.  Just not right now.

Game Daily: Why turn your back on the largest installed base on the console landscape today, and not release the “game you always wanted to make” on the Wii? Or are you planning to release the Wii version of Civilization Revolution later after all?

Sid Meier, Director of Creative Development at Firaxis: We’re still in the process of mak:D
ing decisions on that and will keep you posted. We certainly think the Wii is a fantastic system and have no intentions of turning our backs on it!

How does this make all of you feel?  Postyour gripes in the comments.

Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution on Indefinite Hold

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Sid Meier’s Civilization RevolutionIGN reports that Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution for the Wii has been put on indefinite hiatus. According to a forum post, Firaxis Games does not have the manpower to put out four versions of the game (for PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, and Wii), so they are dropping the Wii version.

This is a shame. Civilization 2 is one of my favorite PC games, and I’d love a game for the Wii like this one, where strategy is a bigger focus that shooting or jumping.
