Oh, holy crap.

I just read an article at IGN about Shaun White’s Snowboarding Road Trip for Wii - and as I am a huge fan of SSX for both PS2 and Wii, you can imagine that I will be dropping hints to my wife and co-editor about a Christmas present…

So with this one, SSX Blur, and We Ski, we’re getting a few more games into our Snowboarding/Skiing fanatics list!

Shaun White’s Snowboarding for Wii - USING THE WII BALANCE BOARD!

Friday, May 30th, 2008

Slashdot posted some information on a new game that Ubisoft will be releasing - a snowboarding game called “Shaun White’s Snowboarding” that uses the beloved Wii Balance Board and the Wiimote as the control media.

“During Ubidays 2008, Ubisoft revealed that its upcoming snowboarding title, Shaun White Snowboarding, will be coming to Nintendo Wii. More exciting, the publisher revealed that the game will support Nintendo’s Wii Balance Board. Although members of the press were not allowed to play the game at the event, an Ubisoft representative was on hand to demo the setup. The game is played with both the Balance Board and Wii-mote, using the latter to control tricks.”

We’re pretty big fans of the SSX Series of games here at WeKnowWii.com, so you can imagine our excitement!
We haven’t been able to get our hands on Wii Ski yet that also uses the Wii Balance Board, but we’re waiting to rock the slopes in our living room!

Go order Wii Fit and the Balance Board if you haven’t already - it’s even healthy!

Monday, January 28th, 2008

snowsmall.jpgAny of you Nintendo 64 fans remember 1080° Snowboarding?  Nintendo has released 1080° Snowboarding this week for Wii’s Virtual Console.  Any of the old-school snowboarding gamers might remember this title as one of the first “truly realistic” snowboarding video games, with the famous Shigeru Miyamoto on the design team for 1080° Snowboarding.  You might know Shigeru from such classic titles as the Mario Brothers and Super Mario series, Legend of Zelda, as well as a ton of the super-selling games for Nintendo’s Wii.  Oh heck, here’s a full list of Shigeru’s games for Nintendo.

1080° Snowboarding allows players to choose from one of five characters (male and female) that each offer their own flavor of unique attributes and tricks.  The player is also able to choose from a selection of boards before heading down the slopes.

Pick a course and get ready to experience a sensation of speed that’ll make you forget all about the cold—but it might just send a shiver down your spine. Throw in hidden characters and boards, varying weather and snow conditions, multiple paths through each course, and a variety of tricks to master—topped off with rock-solid play control—and you’ve got a recipe for winter fun that you can enjoy any time of the year. It’s all the fun and excitement of the sport, without the bruises and frostbite!
